This workshop investigates the research behind comprehension instruction and focuses specifically on the six comprehension strategies identified by the National Reading Panel and highlighted in the Putting Reading First component of the No Child Left Behind legislation. Throughout the day, a variety of strategies grounded in current scientifically based research will be explored and demonstrated. Participants will leave with a solid repertoire of comprehension strategies that can be implemented in the classroom. These strategies will help lead students to enhanced comprehension of text across the content areas.
