Fluent reading is a major goal of reading instruction because decoding print accurately and effortlessly enables students to read for meaning. This workshop will cover research-based strategies for helping students build fluency by improving their reading speed, accuracy, and prosody. Participants will learn how to assess a student's reading fluency and provide appropriate reading material. They will learn how to fit fluency instruction into every reading curriculum and how to create a fluency corner. Participants will leave the workshop ready to begin assessing and building students' fluency the very next day.
