Strong readers have large listening and reading vocabularies. Vocabulary knowledge is essential for student success especially when reading in the content areas. This workshop will provide research-based strategies for helping students expand their vocabulary before, during, and after reading. Included in the workshop are techniques for getting students to use context clues to identify new words and use prefixes, suffixes, and word roots to understand new words.
